How to Make It in America Update

January 13th, 2010

How to Make It in America is getting closer and closer!

With the premiere of the first episode almost a month away I figured it was time I put together a post highlighting some things about the show. Keep reading for photos from the production of Episode 1, air dates & times for the first 3 episodes, cast info and some quotes from Cudi about the show.

As previously announced the show will premiere its first episode on February 14 on HBO. Recently it was confirmed that it would air at 10 PM ET. The following episodes are schedule to air every Sunday at 10 PM ET following a similar pattern that Entourage takes each season (8-12 episode season, 1 episode every week, 30 minutes per episode). Episode 2 will air Feb. 21, Episode 3 will air Feb. 28 etc.

Episode 1 overview:
In the pilot, Ben (Greenberg) and best friend Cam (Rasuk) start a leather jacket hustle when Cam’s cousin Rene (Guzman) threatens injury if an old loan isn’t repaid. In the follow-up episode, “Crisp,” the two enterprising friends try to start their own retro denim brand.

If you miss the premiere, it’s currently set to re-air at the following times:

Monday Feb. 15 2:05AM ET
Monday Feb. 15 5:25PM ET
Tuesday Feb. 16 1:25PM ET
Wednesday Feb. 17 12:00AM ET
Show Overview:
How to Make It in America follows two enterprising Brooklyn twentysomethings as they hustle their way through New York City, determined to achieve the American Dream. Trying to make a name for themselves in New York’s competitive fashion scene, Ben Epstein (Greenberg) and his friend and business partner Cam Calderon (Rasuk) use their street knowledge and connections to bring their ambitions to fruition. With the help of Cam’s cousin Rene (Guzman), who is trying to market his own high-energy drink, and their well-connected friend Domingo (“Kid Cudi”), the burgeoning entrepreneurs set out to make it big, encountering obstacles along the way that will require all their ingenuity to overcome.

Roadside Has “The Good Guy”

October 15th, 2009

Roadside Attractions has acquired worldwide rights to Julio DePietro’s “The Good Guy,” which premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film stars Alexis Bledel, Scott Porter, Anna Chlumsky and Bryan Greenberg, and will be released the theatrically in March 2010, with Mandate International handling foreign sales. The film was produced by Linda Moran and Rene Bastian of Belladonna Productions as well as DePietro.

The film follows Beth (Bledel), who falls hard for Tommy (Porter), a “young Wall Street hot-shot.” But just as everything seems to be falling into place, complications arise in the form of Tommy’s sensitive and handsome co-worker Daniel (Greenberg).

“This is an entertaining, provocative film about three great subjects – love, money, and New York City,” said Roadside’s Howard Cohen in a statement. “We think the stellar cast will attract a lot of young fans, but anyone who’s ever dreamt of making it in the big apple will relate to this story.”

“We really wanted to make a fun date movie that men would actually like as much as women, and I think Alexis’ fans will be happy to finally see her playing a much more grown-up role,” added writer/director DePietro in a statement.

The deal was brokered by Greg S. Bernstein and Cohen for Roadside and Andrew Herwitz of The Film Sales Company on behalf of the filmmakers.

If You Want to Get Close to Bryan Greenberg, Move to Chelsea

August 26th, 2009

(1)

At least temporarily! Bryan Greenberg is starring in the upcoming HBO series How to Make It in America, where he plays Ben, a fashion designer hustling his biz in New York City.

You may remember him from the 2005 movie Prime (also shot in NYC!) as the major hottie who provided some serious boy toy action for Uma Thurman, a 37-year old divorcee who’s unknowingly shtupping her therapist Meryl Streep’s 23-year-old son!

How to Make It in America is about to start production next month, and location scouting notices are popping up in buildings in the neighborhood of Chelsea. They’re looking for “interesting spaces” in which to shoot the series, described as “a collection of stories drawn from the fabric of New York City… focused around the relationship between friends and their determination to see their dreams through.”

I’m determined on finding an apartment on 18th street and Eighth Avenue for the chance for Bryan to recreate one of his infamous Prime love scenes in my own boudoir!

This isn’t the first time Bryan has been on TV. The 30-year-old from Omaha, NE., starred as a writer who returns to his hometown for two seasons on the ABC drama, October Road, and had a run on The CW’s One Tree Hill.

Let’s not forget the little stint he did on HBO’s reality drama Unscripted, which followed the lives of three actors trying to make it big in Hollywood (we actually saw Bryan get the casting call for Prime!).

I don’t know about Tinseltown, but seems like Bryan’s made a big deal of himself right here in the Big Apple.
